Transition Programs
There are many big milestones that children face as they move through their education at school. There's of course, the big milestone of starting school, which is significant for children and their families. The move from primary to high school is also significant. We know that adjusting to a new Stage or class each year may require some support. And of course, moving to a new school may also present some challenges as well as excitement.
At Porters Creek Public School, we believe in providing strong, supportive transition programs for our students at all stages of their time with us, to maximise outcomes for our students across all areas - academic, social and emotional.
There will be transition programs for students moving between years, and most relevant for our school community in the coming months, a transition program for all of our new students. Kindergarten transition programs will run during Semester 2 each year, and transition days for new students entering the school will be held each term. We will also support our existing students at the end of each year as they prepare to move into a new hub the following year.
At Porters Creek, we will also work closely with our partner high schools to support students as they move from Year 6 to Year 7.
