Wellbeing Programs at Porters Creek
The Resilience Project
Since 2025, Porters Creek Public School has proudly partnered with The Resilience Project, embedding practices that build gratitude, empathy and mindfulness into everyday learning. These evidence-based strategies support not only our students but also our staff and parent community, helping everyone strengthen wellbeing and develop positive, lifelong habits of resilience.
Choice Theory at Porters Creek
Our wellbeing program draws on Dr William Glasser’s Choice Theory, which teaches that we can only control our own behaviour—not anyone else’s. It’s based on the idea that all of us are motivated by five basic needs: love and belonging, fun, freedom, power, and survival. While parents, teachers and friends can guide and influence, each person ultimately chooses how to act. This approach, combined with The Resilience Project, helps students build responsibility and positive decision-making skills.
